Southern California Youth Music Competition

The competition is open to high school vocalists and instrumentalists who live in Southern California.

The goal of this music competition is to have a positive impact on the youth who spend time learning their musical craft.

Entrants are asked to prepare two contrasting selections based on the following:

Baroque
Romantic
Impressionist
Gospel
Contemporary
Broadway Show
Jazz
Pop
Original Composition

There are two categories - vocal and instrumental.

Each category pays as follows:
First Prize is $500
Second Prize is $250
Third Prize is $125
Honorable Mention
Special Mention

California Voter Education Project

Join the 2M+ California Voter Education Project, BeThaChange.com to become part of a growing movement of young people who are willing to change the future of their country and their communities through civic engagement and civic participation.

The 2M+ campaign will be a vehicle for youth to become engaged in their future by participating in a website campaign for youth involvement.

- Spoken Word contest, no more than 2-3 minutes. Cash award $1000.00

- Essay Contest: Essay Theme “My California Dream for Civic Engagement” in 500 words or less. Cash award $500.00

- Freeman Leadership Awards (3): Nominations can come from Community Based Organizations, Faith Based-Institutions , Youth Groups, Youth Agencies and others who know youth who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and civic participation. Cash awards $1000.00

Criteria:
1. Must be 18 – 27 years of age
2.Those participating in the contest and nominating for the leadership awards must register on line to www.bethachange.com

4. Register now to participate at the “Leadership Summit” scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the USC Davidson Conference Center. Register early, seating will be limited www.bethachange.com.

Now We're Cooking!

Tasty Traditions "Reel Creative Meals"

Lawry's is sponsoring Tasty Traditions "Reel Creative Meals" contest. Submitting an original recipe using Lawry's products and then video taping you and the family preparing the recipe makes the entry eligible for the grand prize of $25,000 or one of ten $1,000 first place prizes. To assist people with their entries, selected Ralphs and Food4Less stores will host Lawry's grilling demonstrations once a month starting in May and ending in August.

Demonstration attendees will get grilling tips, filming tips and could instantly win a "Reel Creative Meals" Production Kit that includes:

* $100 worth of Lawry's products,
* a $100 grocery gift card from Ralphs or Food4Less,
* a Lawry's signature apron and
* a camcorder to help entrants record the video portion of their submission.
